I need to learn more about the French revolution, but don’t want to get into history books. I would like to read some fiction set in that particular period but not from the aristocracy’s perspective. Honestly I need something along the lines of Les Mis, but shorter and maybe not so heavy. I’m working on a play and need to learn about the period, the people, the hunger, etc. The thing is I have a very short attention span so if it doesn’t have some plot or interesting characters I won’t be able to get to the end. If anyone has any recommendations I would be very grateful
