Looking for something light-hearted and funny!

I’ve read a lot of horror, science, and literary fiction lately. Great books but depressing stories. I could really use some easy, fun reads. I was thinking about getting into John Scalzi. Starter Villain is a bit out of budget for me and too new to be at the library, so I was thinking about the Old Man’s War series. Any other similar authors? I prefer fiction over nonfiction (unless the nonfiction is science)! I’d rather it be a book where comedy is mixed in but not the main genre, like how Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy is sci-fi.
