does anyone have any recs for books with characters that experience loneliness or alienation due to having certain characteristics? Or due to them having trouble connecting with others due to those traits.
like someone being so good at something/being in a position that makes it hard for them to connect with others or it could be some sort of fantasy element
ive seen a few similar posts asking for something like this but none that specified romance so here i am
some books i liked that sort of got what i am looking for is the invisible life of addie larue, normal people, the infinite noise, and the dark rise series (sort of)
this was somewhat inspired by fence by cs pacat, where a character says that they often had trouble connecting with people their age because they were too advanced/skilled in their sport. they werent the pov character tho, i wouldve really liked to see his perspective
it doesnt have to be a romance book, just having romance in it as a side plot it cool
queer books are encouraged!
