Hey, I would like to read some books about adult(28-30+) conventionally unattractive, fat, unimpressive fmc navigating life. (Would love a coming of age, but NOT ENDING IN A BEAUTY MAKEOVER). I would like the character to get confidence, optimism while still being herself.
I have read Elenor Olyphant and loved it. Also read Convenience Store Women. Also I love the movie ” Brittany Runs A Marathon” and am looking something similar.

Eleanor Rigby by Douglas Coupland might work. The MC is in her late 30s, overweight, conventionally unattractive, and describes herself as the loneliest woman in the world. It’s a lovely book, and there is no makeover or change to her appearance.
