I read “never let me go” by kazuo Ishiguro just recently, I loved the book so much. Went ahead to watch interviews by the author about the book and the movie adaptation. Came here on Reddit and I saw good recommendations concerning “remains of the day”. I just can’t get into the book. Usually I’m a fast reader but whenever. Find myself reading the book I zone out completely because I find myself getting bored.
I just want to know if it gets better?

TLDR – does it get better with “remains of the day”, do I continue? Getting bored with the book.

    1. That’s funny, because I LOVED Remains of the Day, but I really struggled through Klara and the Sun and am currently struggling through Never Let Me Go.

I DID enjoy An Artist of the Floating World, so I can’t help but wonder if it’s a coincidence that I’ve enjoyed 2/2 books of his from a male perspective, and 0/2 books from a female perspective.

    2. So far “Never Let Me Go” is the only Ishiguro novel I could get into (and I absolutely loved it). “When We Were Orphans,” “The Buried Giant,” and “Remains of the Day” I just couldn’t enjoy. I have a copy of “Klara and the Sun” hoping to enjoy it.

    3. It’s one of my favorite books, but it’s definitely a slow and subtle one. The movie with Anthony Hopkins is a classic for a reason, so maybe give it a watch? It’s also ok to not like everything an author writes, this one just may not be for you.
