Hey fellow readers
I’m looking for a book that tells about the evolution of chess, as a game, as a political tool and mirror of the society.
I’m not interested in chess theory or chess strategy kind of book.
I know there are quite a few about this topic, but I really want to know your perspective on them.
Do you know any that is to chess what “Sapiens, a brief history of humanity” is to humanity or what “A brief history of time” is to physics?
I read that “A History of Chess: From Chaturanga to the Present Day” by Yuri Averbakh is the closest, have anyone read it? It is really hard to find good edition of it.
Thank you all!
