Some background, I recently got into reading for the first time ever. This started after I saw the Dune movies, was very interested in that world, and read Dune and Dune Messiah. I’m like 15% into Children of Dune but i’m losing steam and would like to explore some other authors. I bought myself a Kindle have been reading basically every day.
I took a break from CoD and read a book called Dark Matter by Blake Crouch after some recommendations and solid reviews. This started off really good but the last half of the book was really stupid, and had me rolling my eyes over and over again. It felt like juvenile sci-fi in a way – at times I felt like I was reading a screenplay of a movie that I wouldn’t want to see. I’ve been told his other book, Recursion, is better, so I might hop into that next. But I’ve also read reviews that it’s just more of the same.
Either way, i’d like to explore other sci-fi authors that have books that really make you think. Maybe something in between a Dune level sci-fi and this Dark Matter book.
