An adorable and uplifting character-driven book with subtle humour, complex characters and an interesting storyline

Bonus points for adult fiction and escapism but I’m open to anything. I’d prefer books that don’t entirely centre on romance but some is ok

Books I’ve read that sort of fit: Big Little Lies, House in the Cerulean Sea, A Man Called Ove (didn’t love this one), The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches (fell a bit flat for me)
