I’m wondering if anyone knows of any books set during World War **One** which follow a French, Belgian, or German family as they deal with the hardships of life near the front lines (occupation, shelling, evacuation, food shortages, etc.).
I’d also be greatly interested in any WW1 books which cut between the experiences of a husband and wife separated by the war.
If anyone knows any French-language books like this, I can read that language as well.
