Hope this post doesn’t get too much hate, I know people generally don’t enjoy clichés or stereotypes. Life has been feeling a bit meh lately, and I need something lighthearted to read. When I was younger I used to read a lot of clichéd romantic (high-school) books, they helped me through a lot of bad times. It was a way to escape reality for a moment and always, always know there was a happy ending for the characters. I have been going through a bit of a rough patch lately and I feel like those lighthearted books would help me right now, but I am struggling to find something that isn’t basically just about sex. I want mainly the romance and drama.
I enjoy the unpopular/shy/whatever girl and the popular/bad-boy/etc. guy. Especially when the female lead isn’t a doormat and has some personality outside been ‘unpopular’ – same for the male lead, some personality other than his height and looks. Bonus if there is some triangle drama and/or if the female lead has a ‘friend’ who is into the male lead and tries to sabotage their relationship but can’t. The book does not need to be in high-school, it’s just that the high-school ones are usually more of a ‘slow romance’ where the characters don’t jump into sex immediately and have minimal cheating. As long as they fit the description I really don’t care about age. Some comedy is also welcome.
The book needs to have a happy ending, I really need something lighthearted, feel-good book to read
