Looking for book suggestions and strategies to get out of a reading slump. Normally by this time I would have read at least 10 books. I typically read horror, with a sprinkling of historical fiction, literary fiction, and non-fiction. I’m half way through Our Share of the Night, and I love it but I just can’t seem to pick it up to finish. My favourite authors include Shirley Jackson, Margaret Atwood, Ottessa Moshfegh, and Thomas Olde Heuvelt.
I’m thinking that a book genre that is different from my usuals, short, and fast paced (please no thrillers that have a detective/ who dunnit). I’d appreciate any suggestions, thank you!

Roadside Picnic by Strugatsky has mild horror vibes and is fast paced
You might like [‘Several People Are Typing’](https://www.waterstones.com/book/several-people-are-typing/calvin-kasulke/9781529358384) by Calvin Kasulke. It’s a quirky sci-fi about a man who gets trapped in his workplace’s chat system, and I found it to be funny and unsettling in equal measure. It’s written entirely in chat format which speeds up the pace considerably, and I got through it in a weekend 🙂
For comedy-horror, Tales from the Gas Station by Jack Townsend
