I’m reading and loving Wise Man’s Fear, and I’m sad that once I’m done, since the story isn’t completed, I won’t know the end to the story. Is Rothfuss eventually going to be able to write the third book? He’s only 50, so conceivably he should be able to write it before he dies, unlike George RR Martin who almost certainly isn’t going to finish his series being age 75 with no signs of even the penultimate book on the horizon.

Look; no one cares anymore. We’re all exhausted from grieving this series and having to constantly engage with it in only this one form of “will it continue.” Don’t care anymore. If the third comes out I’d read it. Eventually. But who cares, Rothfuss certainty doesn’t so you shouldn’t either. If he bothers to do his job then we’ll get to read it but the conversation is even more tired than the belief in his ability to finish. Don’t follow updates, don’t engage in the conversation, don’t post reviews demanding updates, just ignore authors until they publish something. Stop talking and thinking about it and maybe one day you’ll be pleasantly surprised that it exists but waiting is only going to disappoint you when A. It doesn’t get written or B. It isn’t as good as your decades-long expectations for it.
