Hello, I am looking for books that contain elements of magical realism in a futuristic urban setting. I am looking for the MC to be kind and heroic, but I don’t want anything similar to DC/Marvel. If it had strong themes of friendship and loyalty, that would also be great! Thanks 🙂
edit: im looking more for adult books as opposed to YA. a book that could be marketed as either is preferable.

Mostly present day but with a bit of time travel in both directions. Some mysterious magic linking to technology. Central character hero boy. Basically a YA book, but I picked it up by accident and it was enjoyable enough and a really quick read – Archer’s Goon. Read it as a 12-14 year old would.
