Hey, I really need help with finding a good book to read.

I was a avid reader in middle school that absulotely devoured books to the point where it was almost unhealthy. I read the entire Percy Jackson series (and it’s spin-offs) in a month and the entire Harry Potter series in about 2 weeks.

Once I hit high school, I just suddenly stopped due to doing so many extracurriculars and sports. I’m a senior now, and I’m looking to get back into reading. The only problem is, the books and romance I found interesting before are just not hitting the same anymore.

And the books I pick up I end up dropping since they don’t keep me hooked. I have a lot of activities in my life and they just take up my time, so if I’m not interested in a book, I just end up watching tv since I have little free time.

Im looking for a book/series with multiple main couples in all kinds of tropes (I like variety). A enemies to lovers, an obsessed couple, a slow burn, etc. The more the better. And I want a bit of spice (The more the better).

It doesn’t have to be fantasy like the title said, but it is preferred. I want the romance to go hand in hand with a intriguing story.

I know what I described isn’t really easy to find because developing multiple characters and relationships is extremely hard for any author.

Some of the books I read recently that matched my description somewhat:

Wicked Saints (Dropped this after the first book, I felt like it wasn’t hooking enough)

Shadow and Bone (Dropped this too, but had a lot of couples)

Throne of Glass (Only had one couple, but definitely had the spice I was looking for.)

Sorry for such a long post, but I really hope someone can help me out. I still love books and want to get back into reading.

    Thanks for your guys’ time!

Edit: I should mention that I’m a guy so a male mc would be relatable but it’s definitely not a must. I’ve read plenty of books with female mcs that are good.

    1. Oh my, there are so many YA fantasy romance threads on reddit, just have a look through those!

Leigh Bardugo’s other series, Six of Crows, is generally considered to be far superior to Shadow and Bone—it’s a heist story so basically everyone in the gang pairs up

Other recs—Once upon a broken heart + the Ballad of Never After: the first book is sort of weak but it REALLY picks up, I cannot recommend this enough! A girl makes a deal with the Prince of Hearts and gets whisked off into a dark fairytale land (but there’s only one main couple)

The Seven Realms—an older series, but my favourite! Starts off windy but has internal politics and absolutely charming main characters. The spin-off, the Shattered Realms, had a larger cast and more main couples, so perhaps you could skip to this?

The Lunar Chronicles—a quartet with a new main couple every book, and an entertaining blend of sci fi, fantasy and fairytales

Also if you like Sarah J Maas people tend to like Cassandra Clare, but it’s a hit or miss

A court of thorns and roses (the Actor series), by Sarah J. Maas (If you read throne of glass you might like these) there is more spice and multiple couples by the end (5th book is a entirely different couple and different trope), its easier to read, and the focus is on the Romance (rather than the fantasy politics in a throne of Glass)

    3. Assuming you are a senior in high school and want *spicy* romance, try the Charm of Magpies series by K. J. Charles. There are several books in the series with more than one couple. It’s very spicy m/m fantasy romance. The first book is *The Magpie Lord* and is often free on Amazon and Kobo. Charles’s books are very good with character, dialogue, consent, and both the romance plot and plot in addition to the romance. She has a bunch of m/m historical romance as well. Try Sins of the City for a variety of couples and the Will Darling books for a great pulp plot in addition to the romance.

Zodiac Academy has lots of different couples and is told from multiple POVs, so you can get invested in each one. And it’s VERY spicy
