    Hi folks,

long time binge-reader of fantasy/sci-fi/horror (and the occasional classic) here. I recently got the itch to dip into literary fiction and contemporary novels. I’m not really sure where to start, but so far I have picked up a copy of Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami, Blood Meridian by Cormac McCarthy, and Pachinko by Min Jin Lee.

I’m looking for serious, introspective stories in areas I’m not knowledgeable about – I’m a French Canadian man, so anything outside of that (particularly outside North America) is welcome. The idea of night life or city life is particularly interesting to me as well.

For reference, my favorite novels of all time are as follows:

    1. The first fifteen lives of Harry August – Claire North
    2. Speaker for the dead – Orson Scott Card
    3. The fisherman – John Langan
    4. The shadow rising – Robert Jordan
    5. Perfume: The story of a murderer – Patrick Suskind
    6. Incendies – Wajdi Mouawad
    7. The martian – Andy Weir
    8. Foundation – Isaac Asimov
    9. Lord of chaos – Robert Jordan
    10. Hyperion – Dan Simmons

Any suggestions are welcome, and thanks in advance!
