Hi all, I would like to ask about your experience with purchasing used books through Alibris. I have recently (\~2 months ago) ordered a textbook from a seemingly well-established seller, but the order had become untrackable. The tracking number provided shows a delivery within the US (I am in Europe), which the seller told me is between them and Alibris’ redistribution centre. In the past 6 weeks there have been no shipment status updates or any kind of information, and I get no reply from Alibris despite messaging them every 2 weeks and them promising a reply within 48 hours.
Is this normal? Should I be more patient, or should I escalate this case? If so, what kind of authority should I turn to?

Can you give the name of the bookstore? I recently had a similar situation through a dealer on Abe (Wakulla Books) – they gave me a tracking number & it got delivered to a place in the states (I’m in a different country). When I asked them, they said the number got mixed up with another order, then when I asked for the new tracking number, no response. I then checked for reviews of the company (which I was dumb not to do before, but I’d always had good experiences through abe) & it sounds like this is their MO. Now I have to wait weeks before I can request a refund.
I also had a different shop come back to me requesting an outrageously high shipping charge and when I asked them how it was going to be delivered and if tracking would be available, they just cancelled the order without responding – super shady.
