These are not *general* rules, just *rules for this thread*.
Firstly, it has to have a really good premise – like Agatha Christie’s ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ or Alfred Bester’s ‘The Demolished Man’.
Secondly, it has to be well (or at least elegantly) written – such as Raymond Chandler’s The Long Good-Bye’ or ‘The Lady In The Lake’ which have a taut but smoothly written narrative or the poetic beauty of GK Chesterton’s ‘Father Brown’ stories.
Thirdly, it has to have charismatic or at least compelling characters – or at least a compelling protagonist or antagonist – something along the lines of Jonathan Harris’ ‘Hannibal Lector’ (Or whatever his law- enforcing equivalent is. Is there one?).
