Before anyone says, “why don’t you get both?” it’s just a simple matter that I already have another book I’m currently reading. I’m basically planning ahead.
***Battle Royale (Remastered) by Koushun Takami***: In a dystopian future Japan, forty-two junior high school students are outfitted with weapons and bid to kill one another until there is only one left standing. – “*Takami’s notorious high-octane thriller envisions a nightmare scenario: a class of junior high school students is taken to a deserted island where, as part of a ruthless authoritarian program, they are provided arms and forced to kill until only one survivor is left standing. Criticized as violent exploitation when first published in Japan—where it became a runaway best seller—Battle Royale is a Lord of the Flies for the 21st century, a potent allegory of what it means to be young and (barely) alive in a dog-eat-dog world.*”
***Pros***: 700+ Pages. Available Instantly for pick up at Local Barnes and Noble. Only $16. Stephen King recommended it once. Horror-esk. Tons of positive reviews. Loved the book it’s based on: “The Long Walk.”
***Cons***: Not a big fan of YA novels (not saying this is one, but people compare it HEAVILY to Hunger Games. I don’t like the series). Never read anything that had to be translated from Japanese beforehand. Only thinking about reading it for graphic content and good story telling.

***Resident Evil: Nemesis by S.D. Perry***: Based on the best selling video game, Resident Evil 3, comes a new chapter in terror. – “*Jill Valentine is ready to leave Raccoon City forever. But Umbrella isn’t finished with the town. Too much evidence of their unethical and immoral research still exists. It must be recovered or destroyed –and quickly– before it can be traced back to Umbrella. And with William Birkin’s mutagenic virus already spreading through the city like wildfire, drastic measures are needed. Under cover of night, mercenary teams have entered the city, along with something else — Umbrella’s failsafe: an evolved version of its Tyrant-class killing machines, a lethal creature code-named Nemesis. Now Nemesis is on the hunt. And Jill Valentine is about to become prey.*”
***Pros***: I loved the “first” two novels in the series. Mostly faithful to the video game (providing depth to characters not seen before) it’s based on. Love the concept. Only $13. Claimed to be the best novel of the series. Author is praised for quality in the novels by RE fans alike.
***Cons***: Has to be shipped, will arrive in a week. Only 280+ pages. It’s based on a video game that I’m currently playing, I technically “know” the story. I always end up liking a game series for a while, then I just stop and don’t come back to it for a LONG time, just to come back into a serious “geek” mode.
The libraries in my area don’t have the books. I typically don’t mind an audiobook, but I enjoy reading the books. Mainly, I want just one book. My mindset it stuck with: “Just get one and forget the other.” Not the best, but it kinda helps me sleep at night… most times.
