I have a son (12) who has ADHD and dyslexia. After a LOT of work he is a fairly strong (high medium) reader but he still doesn’t enjoy it. The only books he’s really gotten into were Clown in the Cornfield and it’s sequel. I really want him reading over the summer. He said he would be interested in an action book. Here is my delima: We have watched a lot of movies together (Die Hard, The John Wick Series, The Mission Impossible Series, etc) so his expectation for “action” is high. He also isn’t going to go for something directed towards kids—he wants the real thing. He’s not really into fantasy or dystopian stuff anyway (which a lot of YA seems to gravitate to). The challenge is finding something that checks his boxes but isn’t over his head or too adult. I need a real page turner. Any suggestions?
Currently looking at the Matthew Reilly Scarecrow series.
