so, hear me out. I’m looking for a specific brand of sci-fi / apocalyptic book. The examples I can give are Project Hail Mary, World War Z, and the themes of the Three Body Problem (haven’t read the books yet, they sound too dry for me).

    I’m looking for books that
    – mostly takes place on Earth
    – the threat that’s coming / came to end the world is explained in a manner that makes it somewhat believable and scientific
    – isn’t about humanity, the spirit of survival and kindness blabla

What I mean by the last bit is that when looking for apocalyptic books, I keep running into the problem of the finds focusing very little on the event that caused the world ending, or it being very unrealistic and full of plot holes, instead they are centered around the survivors and their communities and their feelings. And that’s all good and nice, just not what I’m after.

I’m not looking for something needlessly dry scientific jargon but I very much enjoy the shivers that the almost-science of aliens or zombies sends down my spine, and how humanity tries and succeeds or fails at stopping them. I’d appreciate some titles, I’m growing desperate 😀
