sorry, don’t really know if character-driven is the right word here. but what i mean is something that really focuses on characters, and goes into great detail about who they really are. i’ve already read the secret history and one of us is lying, so I guess im looking for books similar to that 🙂

You’d probably love the works of Gillian Flynn. She definitely puts her characters first.
This has a more comedic tone, but Everyone In My Family Has Killed Someone by Benjamin Stevenson explores the background of each character and explores the main character pretty thoroughly.
The Thursday Murder Club books by Richard Osman have well-developed (and very lovable) characters.
You’d probably love the Dublin Murder Squad series by Tana French. One of my favorite mystery series ever because each book is a character study of a different detective! She also draws a lot of inspiration from The Secret History for the second book in the series. (Also, stick with it even if you don’t like the first book — I know a lot of people put off by In the Woods who went on to love the rest of the series)
