Is there anything new that’s similar to Michael Crichton?

I’m listening to Congo and it’s making me realize just how much I miss this man’s work. I really want to find another techno thriller author that focuses on the bleeding edge of science and its dangers. I especially love his works like Congo and Timeline where there’s a nice dose of history thrown in as well.

Are there any heirs to critchons throne I should look into?
