For context, I’m a mid-twenties female who just got married. I have read a lot of the classics on my own time (The Great Gatsby, 1984, Frankenstein, etc.) and because of that, I’m not interested in reading more at the moment. I’ve also read a couple very popular book series, like the Hunger Games and Harry Potter, both of which I really enjoyed. I’ve also read other miscellaneous books in the past, but as I am graduating college soon and will be doing a lot less reading for school, I wanted to start reading while I am at work.

Honestly, I’m not completely sure what I am looking for. I am really open to suggestions. When I was a teenager, I liked romance books (I think I would like them still). I am thinking something fiction, young-adult, maybe fantasy? Are there any must-read books – or authors – that may fit what I’m looking for? Were there any books like this that you enjoyed? The length of the book doesn’t matter to me, but I would like an easy or medium read as I am still relatively a beginner with books.

Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel. Its part of a trilogy.

I think you’re a candidate for the Vorkosigan Saga by Lois McMaster Bujold, which starts with Shards of Honor. It’s a deft blend of genres: science fiction that reads more like fantasy; adventure with a strong romance streak.

If you haven’t read Agatha Christie, definitely give her a try. Murder on the Orient Express is a highlight. Or if you read ebooks, some of her earliest stories are free.
