I generally tend to prefer sci fi, but I’ve been trying to get into nonfiction too. I find with audiobooks I get distracted for a second to a minute, then I have no idea what’s happening in the book and I get frustrated, will try to scrub backwards to the last part I remember, and then depending on how much I was distracted that takes long enough that I am now fully outside the experience and I just stop and put music on instead.
Specifically looking for a long drive I’m about to do, and would like to consume a book that I’ll be happy to experience, but won’t suffer from my usual ‘hey I got distracted and now I want to give up altogether’
Recently I’ve really liked Becky Chambers’ ‘A Psalm for the Wildbuilt’ and I’ve been thinking about re-reading ‘Speaker for the Dead’ by Orson Scott Card.
