I was reading an article about a bakery that adapts horror novels into donuts and it got me thinking about what books I would want to eat. One of my favorite novels of all time is *Blood Meridian* but I would never want to eat a *Blood Meridian* donut (although a *Blood Meridian* cocktail is easy to imagine). The only horror book I can think of as a pastry would be *The Turn of the Screw*, which I imagine as a jam sandwich cookie sprinkled in ghostly powdered sugar, but so faint you don’t know if the powdered sugar is really there or not. *Alice in Wonderland* and *Lord of the Rings* obviously work as pastries but I’m trying to think of what else. The article is about a novel I haven’t read yet.
