Remember being like 10 and reading the first book that had you trying to trick your mom into thinking you were asleep while you read with a flashlight under the covers? I am searching for a book to make me feel that way again, and am hoping reading adult books that are similar to my childhood favorites is a good way to chase that feeling. Re-reading them has been fun, but doesn’t quite catch that same feeling, now that I am a 30 year old adult….
Here are some of my childhood faves! What books would you consider to be “adult versions of these”?
*The City of Ember – Jeanne DuPrau
*Cate of the Lost Colony – Lisa Klein
*The Book Thief – Markus Zusak
*The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane – Kate Dicamillo
*The Doll People – Ann Martin and Laura Godwin
