I love books with great, heart wrenching interpersonal relationships. I’m looking for something where the protagonist is lacking something in their life (connection, support, safety etc.) and they meet someone else (not family, probably at least a little older than them) and they form a strong, non romantic relationship. Kind of like found family vibes. I’m hoping to find something where you really feel a sense of connection with the characters and the plot really focuses on the emotions around this, as opposed to some external plot.
I really liked the part of *A Little Life* where Jude finds family with his former professor and doctor (as well as his friends).
I also liked the subplot in Game of Thrones where Arya and the Hound are travelling around together, and the Hound obviously cares about Arya’s safety even though he’s also doing it for the money haha. This is obviously only a small part of the overall story, but it would be nice to find a books where something like this is more central to the plot.
