Dad is an avid reader, I’ve given him a couple of books but he likes to stay within his range. I’m assuming he’s read everything Cormac McCarthy, Larry McMurtry, etc. I’m not too familiar with military novels but he enjoys the boots on the ground sort of stuff. He recently completely lost his hearing so just trying to help him out with some really enthralling epics that will keep him occupied.

“Band of Brothers” is one of the best WW2 books out there
If he wants to nerd out about battle orders and the name of literally every ship in the Kido Butai that sailed to Midway then “Miracle at Midway” by Gordon Prange is fantastic.
“Greyhound” is a fictional story about a destroyer who led a convey during the Battle of the Atlantic is great.
“Masters of the air” is an all encompassing look at the air war over Europe.
“A Wing and a Prayer” by Harry Crosby, who was a B-17 navigator then squadron navigator is fantastic too. Ca
“ghosts of Honolulu” by Mark Harmon (the actor) is about the effort to try and find the Japanese spies in Hawaii right before Pearl Harbor.
“Road to surrender” is the counting of three individuals, 2 Americans and a Japanese dude, who are all trying to end the war as quickly as possible
He’s probably read Louis L’Amour, but if he hasn’t he should try him.
