I just finished watching the Da Vinci Code. I know most of the history of Christianity from this movie/book are made up. However, it made me wonder if there is a book out there that tells the history of the Bible and Christianity from a fact and evidence based view. Something that isn’t written to try to convert me to be a believer, but provides interesting facts or debunks things most people think are true.

Bart Ehrman is the currently active biblical scholar that I’m most familiar with. He’s written something like 30 books, some more academic than others and he mostly focuses on the New Testament. Try starting with his book about the DaVinci code. I think it’s called something like Truth and Fiction in Dan Brown’s DaVinci code.
There’s also the prequel to Da Vinci Code, titled Angels & Demons. It’s just as good if not better.
