I hope this doesn’t come off as disturbing or creepy but I recently learned about the devastatingly beautiful lifecycle of salmon, how they use every last ounce of what’s left of them to swim back to the stream in much they’re born, just to spawn and die. I found it to be very poetic and I’m interested to learn more about other animals who kind of have a natural instinct to die in a seemingly poetic way. Any recs?

I think *The Soul of an Octopus* does that – can’t find it to check right now.
