I need to get my mother a gift for mothers day, and I’m looking for some suggestions. She really enjoys crime and spy type thrillers, like David Baldacci’s work, and (sadly) Robert Gailbraith/JK Rowling. She’s also really been enjoying the Thursday Murder Club book series and The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared as well (she works for a retirement village haha).
I was wondering if there were any suggestions for books along these lines, but somewhat socially aware. JK Rowling has devolved into her whole transphobia and holocaust denial thing, and I’d like to give mum a book that somewhat goes against that, and has a more modern and socially aware perspective (pro-trans rights, pro-queer, diverse etc.). It doesn’t need to be the focus of the book or anything just present, if anything, it would probably be better if its not too in your face.
