I am not a big reader but I would like to give it a try. I have read about 10 books, Sherlock Holmes stories and Agatha Christie ones mostly. I like mystery/murder books. I’m currently reading Lord of the Flies but it hasn’t been able to keep me interested enough yet. My favourite book of all that I’ve read is : And Then There Were None.

I am open to any suggestion from Agatha Christie or mystery in general – to scifi, fantasy or classic reads that you believe is a must read before you die.

    1. The Murderbot Diaries series by Martha Wells. Sci-Fi/Fantasy, most books in the series are rather short so you can get through them in a short amount of time.

Housemaid by Freida McFadden is a great page turner, read it in one day.. not a “must read book” by any means though.

If you like Sherlock Holmes you will probably like arsene lupin too. I think the fastest I’ve ever read a book though is project Hail Mary by Andy weir, sci fi where a guy wakes up with amnesia on a spaceship. Another one I absolutely blitzed through was into thin air, which is a narrative nonfiction about a disaster on mt Everest

If you like Sherlock Holmes (I do, too) you should read “Hidden Fires: A Holmes Before Baker Street Adventure” – it takes place a few years before Holmes met Watson and is centered around that “most winning woman” Holmes mentions in SIGN. Total page turner, would make for great TV.

If you liked Christie, you might want to try “Malice Aforethought,” by Francis Isles, or Nina de Gramont’s book, “The Christie Affair,” a re-imagining of the real-life 11 day disappearance of Agatha Christie. You might also like Dorothy Gilman’s “Mrs. Pollifax” books, or Simon Brett’s “Mrs. Pargeter.”
