Tv/film adaptation covers (or those with the awful “Now a major motion picture” callouts) are obviously the worst offenders, but I also mean when the first/early editions have a memorable or iconic cover, and their reissues have an offensively bland one.

    Examples [here](https://imgur.com/a/XjNaHhc).

Turns me off from buying the book altogether. Guess I’ll have to try to find some used copies of the older editions.

    1. For The Golem and the Jinni, I think the one with the Djinni spelling is the UK version not a reissue. I agree the one with the Jinni spelling looks amazing though and the Djinni one is pretty meh. Even if they wanted to change the spelling they should have kept the rest of the cover as it was.

Fantasy and sci-fi are often the worst offenders. There’s still lots of good ones, but a little part of me dies every time a book that had some beautiful hand-painted cover art in the early editions gets reprinted with generic crap. See The Wheel of Time, Earthsea, and Redwall.
