Me and my girlfriend are pretty new to reading and we have this cute idea of reading the same book at the same time (like our own private bookclub).
The problem is that we dont enjoy the same things. My girlfriend just wants an exciting story which is not too deep and boring (like an action movie), while I like to really analyse the different layers and metaphores in a book (like an arthouse film).
We really enjoyed reading Dune together, which had the exciting story for her and the colonisation angle for me.
Any suggestions fora book which, similar to Dune, has both an exciting story and the deep philosophical part?
