Ender’s Game is my no. 1 recommendation. Artemis Fowl is a fun children’s/YA series. You might also enjoy Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Contact by Carl Sagan, The Hainish Chronicles by Ursula K. LeGuin, the Time Quartet by Madeleine L’Engle, The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss, and The Martian, Artemis, or Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir.

We Are Satellites by Sarah Pinsker. This author has an easily-readable writing style.
Babel-17 by Samuel R. Delany? This is a pulp sci fi novel, so it’s relatively short and fun. However, like a lot of sci fi it expects the reader to already be familiar with common tropes of the genre so it may be confusing if you haven’t consumed much sci fi media.
The Player of Games by Iain M. Banks. Also sci fi. Not as fun.

Check out The Rook if you like sci-fi/futuristic for a fun main character. or also the MC in The Martian is strong/fun

I just recommended this in another thread, but it’s very fun and the MC is very smart, albeit sleepy:
*To Say Nothing of the Dog* by Connie Willis
