Background:
I read “The Women in the Dunes” – Kobo Abe-, 3 years ago and watched the film after and the story still makes me feel anxious, specially the sense of claustrophobic and a bit of the “Stockholm Syndrome”.
I can find some similarities with “Misery” – Stephen King – but any recommendations are welcomed.

Many of Abe’s books feel like this to me! Not sure if you’ve tried them but _The Box Man, The Ark Sakura, Secret Rendezvous, The Face of Another, The Ruined Map_, and more, all have stayed with me years after reading, particularly just the _feeling_ Abe conveys.
Abe was also a major influence on the popular Japanese novelist Haruki Murakami. I haven’t read much of his later work but felt his early work was special in a similar way to Abe. _Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World_ particularly stands out in my memory.
