I am a teacher at a title 1 school in Salt Lake City, Utah. I want to make and distribute a short reading list (10ish books) or even a genre flow chart to suggest books to my students after they leave me. They are 8th graders, going into 9th. There are a lot of reluctant readers in my classes, so I’ll really have to hook them with a 1 sentence summary/attention grabber to get them even remotely interested. I figured I’d start here! What are your favorite middle grade/early high school reads?
Some books that my students like:
Ghost by Jason Reynolds
The Crossover by Kwame Alexander
The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros
The Giver by Lois Lowry
The Hunger Games by Sandra Collins
Any and all graphic novels, especially about Spiderman!
