I’m not sure what you’d call this category, but like that feeling you get from reading Starfish and Blindsight by Peter Watts where you’ve got a crew in some environment that isolates them from the world and dives into the darker aspects of human psychology and (optionally) alien / future technology. I feel like Maze Runner, Hunger Games, the Gone series, and the Nyxia trilogy hit this feeling when I was younger, but these days I’m looking for something a bit more mature like the Peter Watts books I mentioned.
I also liked the feel of the psychological and theory of the future aspects of the Ender’s Game series if that helps narrow this down at all. Mostly I’m just bored at work these days so please hit me with whatever ideas you guys got in this direction.
Thanks in advance!

If you’re fine with not a crew, but a single person, try The Wall by Marlen Haushofer
