I’m looking for books that have deep conversations about why a criminal committed a crime or lived a lifestyle that others paid the price for. Maybe they try to explain their actions to defend themselves or they just speak what’s on their mind.
Here are a few examples of books I’ve read to give you an idea of what I’m looking for. Men in the wild west who became bandits by telling themselves that it was the best way to survive in the brutal lands, ruthless business men who built their fortunes off the suffering of others and blamed their victims for failing to see their deception, a medieval king who ordered his soldiers to burn a village and spare no woman or child to prevent a plague from spreading in the kingdom
Any book recommendation would be greatly appreciated
