Basically the title. I am not looking for some toxic or suspenseful romance, I am looking for a real thriller. For example, maybe the romantic interest is abusive or a serial killer. The main character can have conflicted feelings but I’d rather it not be an abusive relationship that’s romanticised or anything like that. It should be clear that whatever is going on is BAD, even if the characters can be morally-grey.
For example, I read the webtoon The Guy Upstairs and I found the fact that the MC’s best friend is unknowingly dating a serial killer very compelling.
I think something like You (the series or the novel) from the perspective of the woman would be interesting to read.
It doesn’t really matter to me whether the main characters are straight, gay or whatever, as long as it starts out as a typical ‘romance’.
Please don’t spoil exactly what the ‘twist’ is in the stories that you recommend, if possible I’d like to be kept in the dark.
