I love reading, but mostly only read sub 300 page books, and really feel like I would love Stephen King. Can anyone recommend shorter works of his that are great starting points, or any of his slightly longer ones that are worth facing my big book fear?

Seems like Stephen King might be the guy to face that fear with…

*Misery* is an excellent starting point. Not super long and it’s really good.

I loved 11/22/63. Quite a bit unlike his typical horror stuff, but a really great piece of historical fiction with some Sci-Fi/Horror elements. It’s long but I got sucked in. It is not as long as It or The Stand.

I read short books that felt like they are never going to end, and I read long books that I felt like “that’s it?”

Stephen King’s – Billy Summers was one of these books, it is long but it was so good I felt like I watched a movie.

    4. My recommendation is to stick to his short stories. His long books are full of fluff and not worth the effort.

      Salems lot.

King does a really good job of capturing why vampires are fucking scary as shit. It was great a reminder after the image of the vampire has been largely ruined over the last couple decades.
