I was reading the classic American novel The Great Gatsby, and I kept feeling like Nick Carraway, the narrator was extremly similiar to me in personality and behavior. A part which especially resonated me was the paragraph in which he was talking about his lonely life in the office, watching glamorous girls and fantasising that he was walking with them. This was a sensation I felt while also reading JD Salinger’s beautiful Catcher in the Rye.
