    **Recent Sci-Fi Books I’ve Read:**
Dune, Project Hail Mary, Dark Matter, Recursion, War of the Worlds, Armada, Ready Player One, Out of the Silent Planet

Currently in a place where I’m a bit tired of sci-fi and would like to expand my interests a bit. Fantasy, Contemporary Fiction, Non-Fiction, Mystery, Thriller; I’m open to any genre as long as the plot is good and engaging! I’d love to find books with good character development and plot twists.

Wouldn’t even mind some good sci-fi recommendations as well, maybe it’ll kick start my motivation to read them! lol

    Greatly appreciate any recommendations!

For thrillers I love the Orphan X series by Greg Hurwitz. For thrillers that combine science, the supernatural, world religions and odd characters, try the books by Preston and Child – do some research though because many are part of a series that should be read in order.

My reading list is pretty similar so there are a few series by Brandon Sanderson that you might like

Mistborn – not the typical fantasy story with knights and wizards. Instead, it has a very unique magic system set in pre/early industrial revolution times.

Reckoners – urban fantasy about a world where psychotic supervillians rule and the group of non powered individuals fighting back

The Stormlight Archives – this one is a true fantasy epic. It’s really good but might be too big of a jump into the fantasy genre

Only One Left by Riley Sager – A gothic/horror thriller.

Housemaid by Freida McFadden – Not high literature, but gripping and fun fast paced read.

Three Body Problem Trilogy by Liu Cixin – Long but gripping and epic, almost Lovecraftian Sci-fi that has some fascinating ideas/concepts.

    4. The Kingkiller Chronicles are awesome but like The Song Of Ice And Fire probably will never be finished. If you are a fan of Shogun James Clavell’s first 2 books are really good. King Rat and Taipan . King Rat may be the best prisoners of war book ever. The subject matter made it not a blockbuster but still a bestseller. Taipan is my favorite but everybody is different. They are all historical fiction stand alone books .

A hearty 2nd for Preston and Child. Start with the Agent Pendergast series, featuring one of the most intriguing characters in fiction, be aware that he doesn’t really become the “star” of the series till the 3rd book. Also their Ice Limit, can be looked at as a stand alone, gives you an idea of their style.

As something completely different try Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry.
