I used to read constantly when I was younger, stopped recently due to not being able to find books as interesting as I used to. I really want to get back into it but don’t know what to read. I loved young adult reads like If I Stay, Twilight (I know lol), Perfect, Impulse, Burned, The Hunger Games, etc. I really want to find an adult book like Because of Winn-Dixie, it was my favorite book as a kid. Anything with female empowerment as well. I really appreciate the help 🙂

I’m not sure about whether you’d like this or not, but…you might look into Elizabeth Peters’ *Crocodile on the Sandbank*.

It’s humorous Victorian-era historical mystery narrated by a female amateur detective, Amelia Peabody.

The “female empowerment” theme is firmly rooted in Victorian times, so it’s conditional on compromise with contemporaneous societal mores. But it’s still there. And…the books are fun, if lazily-paced and (deliberately) wordy.

But it was written decades ago, so it’s not really a modern take on feminism.
