Hi everybody! I am looking for mysteries or thrillers that don’t rely on graphic violence or abuse against women as a main plot line. I would prefer no graphic violence against anybody, but i understand that is rare. Violence in itself is okay in a book as long as it is not drawn out as a form of shock factor.
I have been in a deep reading slump for almost 2 months because I am sick of reading the most brutal and disgusting violence against women. I hear enough of this for my job and don’t want it bleeding into my leisure anymore.
For examples, I have enjoyed a few Sally Hepworth books (even though they do feature women as victims, i do not feel they have been exploitative or “violence porn”) as well as the Wayward pines series by Blake Crouch.
Edit: I forgot to say please and thank you! So please help and thank you for reading! 🙂

Here are a few featuring women detectives/LE:
The V.I. Warshawski series by Sarah Peretsky
The Bernadette Manulito series by Anne Hillerman (her dad, Tony Hillerman, started the series with the Chee/Leaprhorn books that also doesn’t exploit women)
JA Jance’s Joanna Brady series
Sue Grafton’s Alphabet series (A is for Alibi is the first one)
Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich
Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple series
