Looking for books that dive deep into a specific thing (Salt, Trees, Fish) or that provide a look into a niche community (Memory Competitions, Fly Tying), as opposed to an overview of an event/time in history/persons life – if that makes sense.
This request comes after exhausting all of Mary Roach and Mark Kurlansky’s books.
Some examples outside of those two authors:
* Stoned by Aja Raden
* Dress Codes by Richard Ford
* The Dorito Effect by Mark Schatzker
* Butts by Heather Radke
* Why Fish Don’t Exist by Lulu Miller
* The Hidden Life of Trees by Peter Wohlleben
* Breath by James Nestor
* A Taste for Poison by Neil Bradbury
* The Feather Thief by Kirk Johnson
* Moonwalking with Einstein by Joshua Foer
* The Perfectionists by Simon Winchester
Thank you!

Being Wrong Adventures on the Margin of Error
Medical journalist Gary Taubes’ **The Case Against Sugar**. An unapologetically biased investigation into the history, uses, and adverse effect sugar has on the human body.
On Trails by Robert Moor. An entertaining and well written book about why trails exist. (from me, a trail building nerd.)
