I’ve started reading a collection of short stories by LGBT authors and I’m realizing that I’m having a ton of fun reading about these high school kids just being gay and young. I just turned 30 so I’d prefer stuff with slightly older main characters, but honestly I just wanna read and be more attuned with my fellow LGBT folk.

The Man Who Fell in Love with The Moon by Tom Spanbauer
I’m not sure if this fits what you’re looking for, because the character isn’t explicitly aroace, but I highly recommend [The Hands of the Emperor](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/af2bba9c-8f41-4a3e-b87a-8532a44ccb67) by Victoria Goddard! It’s the book that makes me feel the most seen as an aroace person. It’s a (very long) slice of life book about the personal secretary to the emperor of the world, with a heavy focus on platonic relationships. (There’s to also is some gay rep, but not in the main character.)
Tales of the City by Armistead Maupin
The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune. I finished it in an evening because I couldn’t put it down, then when I got to the end I went back two chapters because I wasn’t ready to be done yet.
Milk fed by Melissa Broder
“Open Throat” by Henry Hoke.
The main character is a mountain lion, but it’s also one of the most relatable and moving and human and queer stories that I’ve ever read. It’s both wholesome and devastating. I can’t recommend it highly enough.
Also anything by TJ Klune, but he’s been mentioned here already 🙂
The Counting of Sins by Robert Joseph Greene
Boy meets boy, autoboyography, heartstopper
For asexual Loveless by Alice Osemen, its young adult, but it’s the best ace focused book I’ve found
