Hello everyone, I’m currently in the worst reading slump ever and I figured you guys may be able to help me out of it. I am a horror/mystery fan but am currently having a lot of trouble finding a book that piques my interest.
I love a good creepy mystery book with a female main character that is not romance centric. More realistic horror/fiction is my typical go to (ex ghosts but no magic) however I am not against some very light fantasy!
Some of my favorites of all time include The Lake of Dead Languages by Carol Goodman, Deep and Dark and Dangerous by Mary Downing Hahn (as well as all of her other books).

Have you read Darcy Coates’ *From Below?*
Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant, maybe? it’s about a group of scientists who are sent to look for mermaids after another group before them vanished years earlier attempting to do the same thing.
