Looking for recommendations for quick sci fi reads. I haven’t read many, but of the few I have read I really liked The Last Question by Isaac Asimov and The Egg by Andy Weir.
Highly recommend the murderbot diaries by Martha wells.

So I wasn’t much of a fan of SF until I read some amazing short stories. They are all old-ish. Here are a few of my favorites. These can all be found in various collections:
Nightfall by Isaac Asimov (there is also a novel of this title he wrote later but first he wrote this short story)
Time in Advance by William Tenn
Blued Moon by Connie Willis
First Contact by Murray Leinster
The Lady Who Sailed *The Soul* by Cordwainer Smith
By His Bootstraps by Anson MacDonald (this is a Robert Heinlein time travel)
