My favorite book is A Personal Matter by Kenzaburo Ōe. My favorite authors are Yukio Mishima, Camus, Jose Saramago, Kafka, Dostoevsky, and Haruki Murakami. I like, for lack of a better term, “cerebral” books like Infinite Jest and Stoner. Some other books I’ve enjoyed are The Secret History, Anna Karenina, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
In the non-fiction realm I’m open to suggestions for biographies or history books. I’d be interested if anyone knows of a good Rasputin biography, or a good series on the Roman Empire.
